SōL Harris/Day was contacted by a Murfreesboro Tennis Association member with compliments for the design of Paramount Tennis facilities in NE Ohio. Having played in them, he encouraged SHD to get involved in the new tennis courts their association is developing in Old Fort Park, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Upon selection of Lose & Associates, Inc., a local design firm in TN, SHD was asked to assist in the project management as well as head the interior design for the new recreational facility.
This new 8-court complex will be constructed as part of an existing larger outdoor 30+ court facility. While SHD is helping coordinate the overall design, the scope of work surrounds interior elements. The design and placement of the building was chosen in coordination with the master plan that places this park as a destination point for the city of Murfreesboro. Future plans include additional outdoor courts and a competition tennis stadium.
This $4 million project will utilize a pre-engineered building customized for the tennis court needs. Along with the 8 courts, the interior spaces to be designed include a Pro Shop, offices for the Murfreesboro Tennis Association, training rooms, multi-purpose rooms, a viewing area of the mezzanine and a serving kitchen for special events.
Construction for this project is planned to begin in the spring of 2014 and will be completed by the end of the year.
