The American Institute of Architects honors local architect's projects for their outstanding achievements. This year, three of SōL Harris/Day's projects won awards:
HONOR AWARD
Interior Design - Akron Community Foundation
A fire completely destroyed the interior shell of the ACF requiring a complete reworking of the space and offering an opportunity for a complete rebranding of the interior. This new space was specifically designed to incorporate an upscale appearance with an impactful new entrance lobby that inspires donor confidence.
HONORABLE MENTION AWARD
New Construction - Campbell Oil Company
The Corporate offices, Training Center and Repair Garage were combined into one location, offering a better line of communication between the three and creating one cohesive team. This eliminates the 'disconnect' between the offices and their numerous BellStore locations.
HONORABLE MENTION AWARD
Exterior Facade Renovation - Park Centre
This new design completely transformed the image of the dated, tired retail center. It introduced bold colors and clean lines to draw attention to tenant entries. The design balances colors, textures and the articulation of elements to unify the building while creating variation along a quarter mile facade. Once it was complete, many within the local community thought this was a new building.
