SōL Harris/Day, partnered with MKSK and ARUP, has been hard at work on the Canton Centennial Plaza overseeing construction of the Jerzees Sports Grille.
During Thursday night's football game featuring the Browns vs Bengals, the NFL celebrated their 100th anniversary by highlighting the City of Canton's Centennial Plaza on national television. They unveiled the Player Pylons at the plaza that feature the 25,488 players names who have played in the NFL throughout it's 100 year history.
Nearing completion, this new plaza offers a football-shaped green space with trees and outdoor seating skirting the exterior. There is a covered stage with a video board on the southwest end and four, large vertical arches on the northeast end. The Jerzees Sports Grille sits on the northwest side with a circular opening in the roof that will project light. A retractable glass wall opens to expand the food venue out into the plaza. Other plaza features include public restrooms, digital kiosks, a sound system, programmable lighting, fire pits and a "Canton" sculpture that can be seen in the video tribute to the NFL.
If you missed out on the preview shown on TV, you can view it at the following link along with some additional footage at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCGX7QnBIus
As construction nears completion, soon you will be able to visit the Centennial Plaza and immerse yourself in the rich history of football in Canton, Ohio.
