Hardy Celebrates 10 Years at SHD

At SHD, we value our employees and feel like they are an extension of our family. We enjoy celebrating each year with our staff and want to highlight their milestone anniversaries as part of our work family. This month Jeff Hardy looks back at his 10 years with SHD and shares with us what got him started.

What keeps you at SHD?

It is pretty simple... the great people I work with, the family atmosphere, and the interesting projects I am involved in.

One of your roles in the firm is to provide training to the staff.. what type of training do you offer and what benefits do you think this offers?

The training for new staff is to get them used to ArchiCAD and how we use this program. The training offered to the rest of the staff is to help improve their knowledge and workflow. This provides continual growth with the use of BIM (Building Information Modeling), providing a better understanding of how to model our projects so the program can do more of the heavy lifting. With the new technology (BIMx and video renderings), we continue to model with even greater detail than we used to so the final models end up being digital twins of the final built projects.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Creating the 3D Model for a building, and then walking through the final building and seeing just how similar the two are.

What made you choose architecture as your career?

Growing up I enjoyed Lego and loved just taking a tub of Lego and creating houses, buildings or castles. Video games were another big passion when I was younger, and I always was focused on the background images and thought it would be amazing to just create the background images for them.
