If you have visited the SōL Harris/Day office over the past 15 years, you most likely have had the pleasure of meeting Heather Keogh. She provides the friendly face and helpful guidance to our clients and visitors. She is celebrating her 15th anniversary with SōL Harris/Day and we reached out to learn more about her thoughts on the firm and her experiences...
What is your favorite part of your work at SōL Harris/Day?
"My favorite part of working at SHD are the people…those I work with and the wonderful clients/contractors I get to interact with every day. Whether they call or come in the front door I want to be that friendly voice/face they encounter. I really do love my job and appreciate my co-workers and even after 15 years I still love coming into work."
How have you seen the firm change and grow in the 15 years you have been there?
"When I started at SHD we were in a small, non-descript office. When the partners announced that we were moving and going to build our own office I was excited and from ground breaking to the ribbon cutting it was nice to be a part of the process. I love our office because it looks like an architecture firm. Whenever I am asked where I work, I tell them where we are located and immediately, they respond with, “Oh, I know where you are. You work in that cool building.” I have much pride for SHD, the people there and the projects they do."
What do you like about working for an architecture firm?
"When I first started, I didn’t know what a Bollard was. Since then, I have learned so much about architecture. It’s mind-blowing how much goes into a project – from concept to design to the finished product. There are no cookie cutter projects here. Our Architect’s take time to listen to the client, hear what they want/need for their space and work with them step-by-step to bring their ideas to life."
What was your favorite SōL Harris/Day activity?
"Pretty much every time we get together for an outside activity is my favorite. Whether through First Friday events, Christmas parties, winter socials, etc. we connect on a personal level and laugh and have a good time. I really feel like we have a unique environment where we feel like family. The only drama is when our competitive sides come out during a First Friday game."
