Spring is here - no matter what the weatherperson says! This month try reusable cleaning products for a more sustainable spring clean. Traditional cleaning products are generally packaged in large plastic containers that contribute to our worlds growing plastic problem and require more space when shipping them to stores or to your home. Many cleaning items, like wipes and sponges, are intended to be thrown away after one use or a short period of time. Some ideas to try include: switching to glass or durable plastic containers that have refill tabs, be it for soap or cleaning solutions, wood handled dish brushes with washable bristle heads, powdered or high concentrate “eco sheet” laundry detergents, or reusable paper towels. The list is endless for areas we can reduce waste in our cleaning routine at home or at the office.
We have had a lot of fun incentivizing our office to pack lunches without using single use plastic bags. Sometimes all you need to brighten up your day is a gold star for your efforts!
