During the month of October, IIDA’s Cleveland / Akron chapter runs ZeroLandfill in partnership with the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. This bi-annual design waste reclamation program allows local firms to collect samples that, for one reason or another, can’t be returned and gives them an opportunity of another life. SōL Harris/Day has been participating in this event for the past several years to minimize waste that is generated during the design of a project. This time our office was able to fill 3 bins ( +/-200 lbs). Community members ranging from teachers to artists are able to pick up the materials at no cost, and creatively repurpose them or use them as instructional materials.
This month the SōL Harris/Day Sustainability Committee challenges you to look around and see what unnecessary waste your industry creates. What can you return? What can be donated? Be creative...reduce, reuse, or recycle!
