Please join us in congratulating Josh Funderburk on his 5 year anniversary with SōL Harris/Day! Since becoming a part of the SHD team, Josh has been dedicated to our clients and firm. His hard work has created successful projects all throughout northeast Ohio. Josh always has a welcoming smile, elevating our office culture. Here are some insights that he shared with us about his time at SHD...
What is your biggest lesson learned since starting at SHD?
"To listen to what the client is asking for and work with them to achieve the solution that fits their needs best. It takes time and coordination to make sure all aspects of a project are understood to achieve the client’s goal. Our role is as much a team leader between all involved parties as it is the designer for the project."
What changes have you seen at SHD over the last 5 years?
"The continued growth of the office as new designers have joined. This has brought new levels of expertise and ideas into the office."
What is unique about working for SHD?
"Getting to work on a project from its initial conception all the way through construction and opening. This really helps to understand the intent of the project as the design work is being done but also helps to re-enforce how the drawings that are put together translate into real world construction details."
What made you choose architecture as your career?
"My parents would joke that I would make a good architect when I was a kid because of my love for drawing and building. As I grew older and learned more about what it meant to be part of the profession, I knew that it was something I wanted to be a part of. Working with a client to help bring their visions to real life is a great privilege!"
What do you think are SHD’s strengths?
"The commitment of everyone in the office to provide the best service to our clients and the extensive knowledge that is shared. The work we do in multiple key sectors provides knowledge that can be used on many other projects, even if they fall into a difference sector. As we continue to explore more sectors, this knowledge base continually grows."
