Built in their 75th anniversary as a dedication of their growth and success, the new corporate headquarters of Campbell Oil Company facilitated a complete workplace culture transformation for the company. The corporate offices, training center, and repair garage were combined into one location, offering a direct line of communication between the three. Previously located in an industrial area, the new office headquarters is located in a denser professional and commercial area, increasing exposure and connectivity to the community.
One of the key features of this new workplace design is an impressive 160-seat training center, providing an open, collaborative space for the entire company, including those who work off-site. This technology-equipped workplace playfully highlights the company’s signature brands and colors, and is visible from a glass wall of the second floor offices. Strategically placing the training space at the core of this building promotes an atmosphere of collaboration and interaction between “corporate” and the managers of their more than fifty BellStore gas station locations, eliminating the disconnect and combining all areas of the company together into one cohesive team.
Focusing on the interior design, one important goal of Campbell’s leadership was to attract new talent, including recent college grads, which can be challenging for a company in Massillon, Ohio. To that end, Campbell’s interior office environment was transformed, eliminating dull, high cubicle walls and replacing them with modern, colorful open office workspaces. Natural light floods the space, providing a bright, vibrant workplace. A light-filled and inviting work café with a connected exterior patio provides additional places to collaborate and interact. Warm materials including wood and brick balance the modern elements of glass walls, open ceilings and crisp white surfaces.
Marking 75 years as a company, Campbell Oil came out with a new logo and branding; as well as, the opening of the new corporate office on Hills and Dales in Massillon, Ohio. The headquarters was built to house the growth and development of BellStores for years to come.
